I attended Williams College and USC Medical School. My ophthalmic residency was at University of Oregon Health Science Center. My Cornea and External Disease Fellowship was at the Proctor Foundation/UCSF Medical School. I am board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Professional Focus
My daily focus is diseases and surgery of the cornea and external eye as well as cataract surgery. I started the Eye Bank of Sonoma and was the Medical Director for seven years. I also was privileged to be the co-founder and ongoing Medical Director of the region’s busiest ocular surgery center of excellence, the 4th Street Laser & Surgery Center where our surgeons perform 2,000 ocular procedures a year.
Personal Interests
I have been extremely fortunate to become involved in ophthalmic charity work in India, Nepal, Myanmar and Cambodia. I am a trustee of the Seva Foundation and previously of the PRASAD Project. I have also spearheaded a national award winning pterygium surgery charity event for uninsured laborers and vineyard workers here in Sonoma County. Two years ago our staff, surgery center and charity partner Operation Access won a $10,000 award from USA Today/Newman’s Own. In 2016 USA Today/Newman’s Own again awarded our expanded team the sole national “All Star Award” for charity work on National Make A Difference Day.
