Dr. Dan Lightfoot is a Santa Rosa native that graduated from Santa Rosa High School. After high school, he went on to Stanford University where he graduated while playing football. The Stanford team won the ’71 Rose Bowl and garnered Jim Plunkett the Heisman Trophy that year.
Professional Focus
Dr. Lightfoot graduated medical school from UCLA. He did his ophthalmology residency at UCSF. He stayed on and did an additional fellowship year of training in Vitreal-Retinal Surgery with Alex Irvine, MD. Dr. Lightfoot continued to teach at UCSF while going into practice in Santa Rosa with his father, Vernon Lightfoot, MD. Dr. Lightfoot was later joined in practice by his brother, David Lightfoot, MD.
Awards & Recognition
Dr. Lightfoot was named one of the best ophthalmologists in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Chronicle in 2015. He was named, along with Gary Barth, MD., as one of the best ophthalmologists in Sonoma County by the Press Democrat in 2016. Dr. Lightfoot now specializes in General Ophthalmology.
